Three steps

How to convert AVIF to PNG

No sign-up, no watermark, no upload.

  1. Add your AVIF files

Drag them onto the panel or browse your device. Up to eight files can be staged at once, and nothing is uploaded — the files stay in this tab.

  2. Convert to PNG

PNG export runs entirely in your browser. The work happens on your own device, so there is no queue, no server round trip and no account to create.

  3. Save the PNG

A single file downloads automatically; a batch gives you a Save all button so your browser does not block the burst of downloads. The original AVIF file is left untouched.

Common questions

AVIF to PNG questions

What is an AVIF file?

A modern image format built on the AV1 video codec. It produces strikingly small files at high quality, which is why sites increasingly serve it — but desktop software has been slow to support it.

Is transparency kept?

Yes. AVIF supports an alpha channel and PNG does too, so transparent regions are preserved exactly.

Why is my browser able to do this locally?

Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari all decode AVIF natively now, so the browser hands the decoded pixels straight to the Canvas API. No extra decoder has to be downloaded.

Does the converted PNG lose quality?

No. PNG is lossless, so what you get is exactly what the browser decoded. The file will simply be much larger than the AVIF it came from.
